Here I was waiting for the Farmers Market to open so I can start eating amazing SOLE foods, and guess what, i could have started even earlier. It takes a bit of digging, but if you know the sources, fresh foods can be found in early spring.
Last Friday, I headed over to pick up my bread from Patra, I was expecting to see only her and a handful of people picking up their bread order. Instead a few other farmers, who had taken email orders were also delivering. JT from Happy Harvest Frams had stacks of fresh free range eggs. Barbara and Paul of La Villa Real Vegetable Farms had a line of folks picking up spinach and gorgeous, gorgeous asparagus. What I would have given to have a bunch of that asparagus to go with the dozen eggs,i got and sunnyflax bread from Hillside Bakeries. Laurel Creek Farm had their truck there full of grassfed meats and eggs. I have been out of the loop!
With further investigation, I have found other sources, for the “off months”. Get online search, talk to other like minded eaters, contact the farmers you buy from during the farmers markets and you too can have SOLE
