Somedays just don’t merit a blog entry, but most do. I just have so much to say and so little energy by the end of the day that i have fallen way behind.

here is a list of what i still need to update:
• the actual hike in Bryce Canyon
• Capitol Reef National park
• Arches National Park
• drive from Durango to Silverton, Ouray and Telluride
• an almost visit to Mesa Verde National Park
• the farmers market in Durango

but that’s all ive got for today
i still want to do a little scrapbooking
have a diet dp
call eli and catch up
and make dinner from our farmer’s mkt finds :)

thanks for understanding!

So we travel up the interstate about 140 miles from Las Vegas where it is 107 degrees and arrive at our campground where it is freezing and raining, with a prediction for snow!!!
Concerned about the weather we opt to visit Kolob Canyon, in Zion NP first, a nice hike and beautiful, beautiful scenery.
The next day much prettier weather we head down to the main portion of Zion NP, to return to John’s favorite hike, Angel’s Landing. We had made this hike a few years ago, at sunrise on our anniversary. Elizabeth was with us on that hike as well, and as we reminisced the first mile or so, we both were feeling very homesick for her company.
There could not have been more perfect weather here in the canyon, blue skies, the perfect spring sunshine’s warmth on our face, and a favorite trail.
The farther up we went the more impressed we were by Eli’s strength and guts on this trail. She was such a trooper on that trip! The higher we climbed it also became apparent that the weather was cooling down and we may get some rain.
the trail winds around the cliffs through a series of switchbacks and spirals . before we knew it the rain picked up, and of course we had no rain gear. taking shelter in one of the switchback overhangs, we stopped for a snack to wait for the rain to pass. moving on we climbed two more sections and before we knew it the rain changed to sleet, the ice stinging my face and sticking to my clothes.
a kind woman took our photo as she waited for her crazy family destined for the pinnacle.
the last part of this trail climbs straight up the spine of two steep inclines with the assistance of chains bolted into the stones to a mesa overlooking the most beautiful river curving through the valley.
we pressed on up the first spine, slippery and cold, increasingly dangerous.shivering and wet our fingers stiff from the freezing chains and visibility down to near nothing, we chose to be a little smarter than normal and turn back, since there would be no view. rather disappointed and relieved at the same time, we made plans to be here again and enjoyed our hike down.
